The Toolbox
This disc contains a special version of ResEd (the resource editor) and
ResTest (to test the user interafce that you create). These are fully
working versions except that ResEd will not allow you to save edited
resource files; you can, however, drag resources or groups of resources
directly from ResEd to the ResTest application. Together they will allow you
to use the new toolbox modules to create and model a new user interface in a
matter of a few minutes.None of the files on the Disc 3 have been
compressed.

Modules
To use ResEd and ResTest you must first merge the toolbox modules into you
!System directory. You can use !SysMerge to do this, full instructions are
in the help document in !SysMerge

How to use this version:
The basic process is to load ResEd and then open up a new resource file
window. Menu over either the icon or the window to open the prototypes
window. Select the object that you want to use, such as an Iconbar icon, and
drag it to your new resource file window. You can then start to build up
your user interface, opening each object to set its properties. To create
the links between objects, drop the new object onto the appropriate field in
the properties window of the first object. To see how your user interface
objects will behave at run-time, you can drag objects to the ResTest
application. ResTest's menu allows you to instantiate (ie create) objects
from your object templates, and to show them on the screen. You should now
be able to get a feel of what the user interface that you have created looks
like. Have fun!

!Hyper & !Demo
Due to disc size limitations this program has been included on the high
density Disc 4. This is an example program written using the new compiler
and the toolbox. You can run this to see what other tools and capabilities
are available in the new compiler package. In addition you can use ResEd to
look at and modify the objects that are used in the application, as well as
the source code behind them. To do this drag the recource file from
!Hyper onto ResEd, and the objects will appear in a new window. You can
modify them and then drag the result to ResTest to see how it looks.Dragging
the resource files directly into ResTest will not work as it is a special
version that can only accept input from ResEd. The sprites used in the !demo
have compressed using squash, the compression tool included with RiscOS 3.
